As the local ecological records centre for West Yorkshire, we collect, collate and disseminate information on the biodiversity of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield districts.
Our data cover internationally, nationally and locally important sites, as well as records for individual species. The majority of this information is available to organisations and individuals to assist with planning, research or other activities.
West Yorkshire Ecology also provides nature conservation advice to the forward planning and development control teams of the five districts.
Biodiversity Action Planning is coordinated for the five districts by West Yorkshire Ecology. West Yorkshire's Biodiversity Coordinator supports the West Yorkshire Biodiversity Group and partner organisations; acts as a link between regional and local biodiversity initiatives; helps to deliver Local Biodiversity Action Plans and is working on Local Development Frameworks to integrate biodiversity into the planning framework.
